Kamakura-gu Shrine
Kamakura-gu enshrines Prince Morinaga, a son of Emperor Go-Daigo, also known as Otonomiya. It was founded in 1869 by order of Emperor Meiji. Locals still call it Otonomiya, and it is the name of the last stop on the bus from Kamakura Station.
Highlights
- The rock cave at the back of the grounds, where the prince is said to have been held prisoner.
- Its place midway along the Valley Path: from here the roads divide again, toward the ruins of Yofuku-ji, Zuisen-ji and Kakuon-ji.
From Wakaremichi
Pass Egara Tenjin and keep going into the valley. This is the Valley Path’s own fork in the road.
